About Bloom and Stone Outdoor Designs
Rooted in nature. Grounded in design. We craft outdoor retreats that feel timeless, deeply personal, and entirely at home in the Northeast Florida landscape.
A Design Firm Born from the Land Itself
Bloom and Stone Outdoor Designs was founded in Fernandina Beach with a simple conviction: every landscape should feel like it grew from the earth beneath it, not like it was placed there by someone reading from a catalog. We are a small, owner-operated design firm that approaches outdoor spaces the way an artist approaches a canvas — with intention, restraint, and deep respect for what the land already wants to be.
Where many companies begin with a price list, we begin with a walk. We listen to the wind moving through live oaks. We notice where morning light pools against the house and where afternoon shade invites rest. These quiet observations become the foundation of every design we create. It is an approach that cannot be rushed, and that is precisely the point.
Our roots in Amelia Island and the greater Northeast Florida coast have shaped our sensibility. The salt air, the sandy soil, the subtropical climate — these are not obstacles to design. They are invitations. When you work with the land rather than against it, the result is something that endures. Something that feels inevitable, as though the garden was always waiting to exist.
Landscapes That Belong, Not Just Exist
Our philosophy is rooted in naturalistic design — the belief that the most beautiful outdoor spaces are those that feel like extensions of the natural world. We do not impose geometry on gardens or force symmetry onto terrain that yearns to flow. Instead, we study the rhythms of each site: the way water drains after a summer storm, the species that thrive without coaxing, the views that deserve framing and the ones that deserve screening.
Every project begins with the same question: what does this place want to become? The answer shapes everything — plant selection, stone placement, the grade of a path, the height of a wall. When a landscape is designed with that kind of attention, it rewards its owners for years. Plants mature into their intended form. Stone develops a patina that makes it look ancient. The whole composition settles into the property like a memory.
We believe luxury is not about opulence. It is about the feeling of stepping into a space that was made for you — a space where every detail was considered, but nothing feels forced. That is what we design. Soulful retreats that feel timeless, grounded, and entirely your own.
See It Before It's Built
Our immersive 3D design visualization lets you walk through your future garden before a single stone is placed.
Immersive 3D Landscape Visualization
One of the things that sets Bloom and Stone apart is our commitment to 3D design visualization. Before any ground is broken, we craft detailed three-dimensional models of your future landscape. These are not rough sketches or flat blueprints. They are immersive renderings that let you experience the proportions, textures, and spatial flow of your outdoor space from every angle.
You can see how a stone retaining wall will frame your backyard patio. You can understand how a planting bed will soften the transition between lawn and woodland. You can walk through the garden in your mind before we ever pick up a shovel. This process eliminates surprises, builds confidence, and allows us to refine every detail until the design feels exactly right.
Our Listen, Design, Build process ensures nothing is left to chance:
- We listen to your vision, lifestyle, and how you want to feel in your outdoor space
- We design in 3D so you can experience every angle before construction begins
- We build with meticulous craftsmanship, partnering with trusted contractors for installation
Why We Choose Natural Stone
In a world of mass-produced concrete pavers, we choose natural stone. Not because it is easier — it is anything but. We choose it because no two pieces are alike. Because it ages with grace. Because it carries the weight of geological time in its grain, and that presence transforms an outdoor space from merely functional to genuinely stirring.
Natural stone — whether Florida coquina, Tennessee fieldstone, or Pennsylvania bluestone — responds to light and weather in ways that manufactured materials simply cannot replicate. A flagstone patio develops character over the seasons. A dry-stacked wall settles into its surroundings as though the earth built it itself. These are the details that elevate a backyard into a retreat.
For custom stonework, we often do the work ourselves. Placing each stone by hand is part of our craft. It is slow, deliberate work, and the results speak for themselves — walls and paths and patios that look like they have been there for a hundred years, even on the day they are finished.
The People Behind the Designs
A small, dedicated team that treats every project like it is our own backyard.
Design Team
Our designers bring an artist's eye and a horticulturist's knowledge to every project, blending aesthetics with the ecological realities of Northeast Florida.
Field Crew
Hands-on craftsmen who understand that the difference between good and exceptional lives in the details — the angle of a stone, the depth of a planting hole.
Operations
Coordinating materials, schedules, and contractor partnerships to ensure every project moves smoothly from 3D rendering to finished landscape.
Part of the Northeast Florida Landscape
Bloom and Stone is more than a design firm — we are neighbors. Based on Amelia Island, we serve homeowners across Fernandina Beach, Yulee, Jacksonville, and the surrounding communities of Nassau and Duval counties. Our connection to this region is not just professional; it is personal. We live here, raise our families here, and care deeply about the character of these neighborhoods.
We believe that thoughtful landscape design strengthens communities. A well-designed front yard contributes to the beauty of an entire street. A restored natural area benefits the local ecosystem. A gathering space around a fire pit brings neighbors together. These are the ripple effects of design done with purpose, and they motivate everything we do.
Whether you are on a barrier island lot with salt-tolerant plant requirements or an inland property with mature oaks that deserve preservation, we understand the unique conditions of Northeast Florida. That local knowledge is not something you can learn from a textbook. It comes from years of working this land.
